Common inspection issues include animal nesting debris, rusty broken dampers, lintel deterioration, smoke damage, and brick spalling. Call today for your chimney inspection.
All of our Chimney Inspections and Fireplace Inspections are done with the use of an i-Pad and a chimney camera. Upon completion of the inspections a copy of the report will be printed from our truck printer and emailed to you.
Professional Chimney Sweep & Inspections in Dallas
Getting a chimney camera inspection done can reveal potential issues inside your chimney. Often times, people are unaware of the safety concerns in their chimney. It’s impossible to determine issues without a chimney camera inspection. Thus, there is no way to physically see the inside of the chimney. Unless, special camera equipment is utilized.
After testing for code violations, Master Services then gives out an estimate. Estimates from Master Services includes what the exact code violations are. The estimate also provides specific details on how we would fix them, if we were to be hired.
Masters Services Chimney Sweep Process
Like a routine dental checkup or wellness exam, a chimney sweeps Dallas for a chimney that is regularly inspected is a straightforward and hassle-free process!
In the 1st Stage, Creosote is Removed. This process is proven to be a no mess chimney cleaning that takes about 30 – 45 minutes.
- After protecting your space with a tarp and bringing in our equipment, we start with a vacuum. The vacuum will clean up all the fallen creosote (soot).
- Next we clean the pipe with poles that have a chimney sweep’s brush at the end. We run specialized brush poles all the way to the top of the chimney.
- Finally, we clean all sides of the firebox and damper with hand brushes. Now all that’s left is to pack up the equipment and leave you with a clean chimney!
What is the Black Stuff in My Chimney? (Chimney Creosote)
The main reason it’s important to have your chimney cleaned and inspected annually is due to a substance called creosote. Tar, soot, and creosote are all natural byproducts of wood burning. You should also know that there are different types of creosote that can be present in a chimney flue. The level of creosote buildup on the flue lining can affect what’s needed to properly clean your chimney. Creosote in all of its forms is dangerous, as it can cause destructive chimney fires and home damage!
What if 3rd Degree Glazed Creosote is Present?
Removing serious creosote buildup requires that a totally different process is performed before the Stage 1 chimney sweep can be performed. A dissolving material will be applied to absorb the stage 3 creosote. After 2 days or more the dissolving has stopped. Then a Stage 1 chimney cleaning is performed.
Cost of PCR application depends on difficulty and chimney height.
Until a chimney inspection is performed we will not know if you have 3rd degree glazed creosote.
Cannot be quoted over the phone.
Regular chimney cleaning and service will minimize the amount of creosote in the chimney and as a result, reduce the severity of a flue fire should it occur.
Ensuring the safety of your home is our top priority, having even a controlled fire in your home can be dangerous if the tools, your fireplace and all of it’s parts, are not maintained properly and kept in great condition.

Another key element that will be looked for during a chimney sweep and inspection is the chimney damper. Look at the damper as a door to your chimney, it needs to be open when the fireplace is burning to let out the hot air and carbon and closed when the fireplace is not in use to keep any air conditioning or heating from leaving your home. When it comes to routine chimney maintenance, a properly functioning chimney damper can save homeowners thousands of dollars a year in energy charges alone.
During chimney sweeps Dallas that we preform our technicians have commonly found rain damage to the fireplace and chase. This can happen for a few reasons, two of the most common reasons are the lack of a chimney cap as well as no waterproofing. As we previously discussed, a chimney cap protects your home from water damage. Waterproofing is vital to the life of your chase, it puts a breathable barrier between your brick and the weather. Without waterproofing your bricks and mortar can act like sponges, letting water into your fireplace and damaging the brick in the mean time. The application of waterproofing is simple and extremely effective in preventing this damage from occurring.

Texas Chimney Sweeps
Chimneys in Texas serve a vital role in homes, not only for aesthetic purposes but also for heating during the chilly winters. The events of the devastating February 2021 freeze in Texas brought to light the importance of maintaining and inspecting chimneys, emphasizing the critical role they play in keeping our homes safe and comfortable. In this article, we will delve into the significance of chimney inspection and sweep in Texas, post-2021 freeze, and discuss the benefits of these services.
Why Inspect and Sweep Your Chimney?
- Safety: The most critical reason to inspect and sweep your chimney is safety. Chimney fires and carbon monoxide poisoning are real threats when chimneys are not properly maintained. Over time, creosote, a highly flammable substance, can accumulate on the interior walls of the chimney. Regular inspections and sweeps ensure that this buildup is removed, reducing the risk of a chimney fire that could spread to your home.
- Efficiency: A clean and well-maintained chimney functions more efficiently. A chimney with creosote buildup can obstruct the flow of smoke and gases, forcing them back into your home. This not only reduces the efficiency of your heating system but can also be harmful to your health. A proper inspection and sweep will ensure that your chimney operates at its best.
- Cost Savings: Neglecting your chimney can lead to costly repairs down the road. When small issues are left unattended, they can escalate into significant problems. Regular inspections can help identify and address issues before they become expensive repairs, saving you money in the long run.
- Prolonging Chimney Life: Chimneys are not invincible; they deteriorate over time. Regular inspections can catch early signs of wear and tear, allowing for timely repairs and maintenance. This helps prolong the life of your chimney, ensuring it serves you for many years to come.
The Benefits of a Chimney Inspection and Sweep
- Safety Assurance: By inspecting and sweeping your chimney, you can be confident that your heating system is safe for use. This is especially important in a state like Texas, where harsh weather conditions can suddenly necessitate the use of chimneys for heating.
- Early Issue Detection: Regular inspections catch small problems before they become big and expensive ones. Early detection allows for timely repairs, reducing the risk of extensive damage and costly fixes.
- Energy Efficiency: A clean and well-maintained chimney ensures that your heating system operates at its best. This means you’ll get the most out of your energy resources and save money on heating costs.
- Longevity: Chimneys can have a long lifespan, but this depends on proper maintenance. Regular chimney inspections and sweeps can help extend the life of your chimney, preserving your investment in your home.
- Peace of Mind: Knowing that your chimney is in excellent condition provides peace of mind for you and your family. You can enjoy the warmth of your fireplace without worrying about safety issues or unexpected breakdowns.
