CHIMNEY REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT WITH LONG-LASTING DURABILITY
A fireplace can generally be identified as masonry or prefabricated by its appearance. Find out more about the difference between masonry and prefabricated fireplaces in our blog post. Those with more traditional tastes may prefer masonry fireplaces because of their brickwork and aging look.
The chimneys on older homes are typically made of masonry, so older stonework may be evident. Like most materials, stone and brick work are prone to wear and tear over time. Chimneys without a Chimney Cap are especially at risk of weathering and damage!
MASTERS SERVICES CHIMNEY REPAIR PROCESS
Prepare the Area
We start the Chimney Rebuild Process by tearing down the chimney chase to the roof due to spalling of the bricks.
Create the Foundation
To match the original chimney, we rebuilt the chimney with a similar brick size and color once it had been taken down.
Finalize the Chimney
After the mortar crown is covered with a chimney cap, the chimney is waterproofed, and the flashing is sealed to create a water-tight seal.
PREFABRICATED CHIMNEY CHASE REBUILDS
Chimneys run through the roof of prefabricated, factory-built fireplaces. A chase cover is usually placed on top of a chimney that can be covered with siding or simulated brick.
Safety tests are conducted at the factory on prefab fireplaces. However, the fireplaces must be installed correctly for them to be safe. The correct replacement parts must be available for your specific fireplace, or you could end up with a house fire. A prefabricated chimney’s housing is usually made of a synthetic material like siding, which is prone to wear and rot over time.
