In your Dallas County home, a fireplace can be a wonderful feature, but it also has responsibilities. A well-maintained fireplace is a key to ensuring it operates safely and properly. As per the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), chimney fires account for the largest number of house fires in the United States, and inadequate chimney maintenance poses the greatest risk.

Generally speaking, chimneys should be cleaned and inspected at least once a year, however, if you use your fireplace frequently or if you find yourself experiencing any issues that indicate there might be a problem, you might have to call a chimney repair more frequently.

The next time you need to have a routine chimney cleaning or if you believe that your fireplace problems may be related to your chimney, call a Lewisville, TX chimney repair.

Having searched online for ‘the best chimney repair near me’ and/or ask your friends for recommendations, you have identified a few different companies that you are interested in. In order to find out more about each company before making a final decision, you’ll need to dig a little deeper. What factors should you consider when choosing a chimney specialist? Here are some of the key qualities to look for when you’re selecting the right chimney repair company near you.

Credentials

It is recommended that you hire a chimney repair company that holds a professional certification, such as a Certified Master Chimney Technician or a Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) certificate. A Lewisville, TX chimney repair must meet certain requirements in order to become certified, such as completing a rigorous training program and passing tests demonstrating knowledge of the latest chimney cleaning and inspection protocols and safety standards.

Whenever you look for chimney repairs in Dallas County, ask them about their certification and ask to see their certification documents. You can obtain this information from any reputable chimney specialist.

Insurance policies that are valid

You should verify the validity of their policies and the full coverage of Lewisville, TX chimney repairs before you hire them. It’s highly likely that the best chimney repair near you will carry general liability insurance and workers’ compensation. It is the company’s general liability insurance policy that will cover repair costs if any mishaps occur while the chimney repair is on your property or the property in its vicinity.

In the event that a company’s employees sustain an injury while cleaning and inspecting a chimney – for example, slipping and falling from your roof – workers’ compensation will cover those costs that they incurred as a result of the injury. You should check the insurance policies of any chimney specialists that you are considering hiring and ask them for proof.

Experience across a wide range of industries

Even though a new Lewisville, TX chimney repair could offer good results, you don’t want to leave anything to chance when it comes to chimney cleaning and inspections. It is in your best interest to hire an experienced contractor who has been in the business for many years.

A company that has been in operation for a long time and has served many clients will have more experience and that experience will benefit your project. Local chimney repairs near you who are the leading forces in their field are those who are well-established and have served Dallas County for a long time.

Testimonials of clients that shine

In addition, see if the chimney repairs in Lewisville, TX you’re considering hiring can provide references. Clients who have used the company in the past can provide you with valuable information. You can get a list of references from the best chimney repairs near you, and those references will have only good things to say about the company.

You should consider crossing off your list any company that refuses to provide references or fails to provide you with contact information for the references they do provide. If you need references, a reputable chimney cleaning and inspection company will happily provide them.

Some information about Lewisville, TX

Lewisville is a city in Denton County, Texas, United States, that barely overlaps with Dallas County, Texas. It is a suburb within the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. The 2000 United States Census placed the city’s population at 77,737 and the 2010 Census placed it at 95,290, making it one of the fastest-growing city populations in the United States and the 33rd most populous in Texas. It occupies 36.4 square miles (94 km2) of land and includes 6.07 square miles (15.7 km2) of Lewisville Lake.

In 1841, the Republic of Texas chartered the Peters Colony Land Grant Company (named for William Smalling Peters, publisher of the song ‘Oh! Susanna’) to settle the North Texas area. In 1844, John W. King and his wife settled on the east side of the prairie, where the city now lies. Baptist settlers from Platte County, Missouri, settled on the west side; among them were John and James Holford, who named the area Holford’s Prairie. Further south, Presbyterians established a church and called it Flower Mound. In the confusion over land ownership after the Hedgcoxe War, Basdeal Lewis purchased Holford’s Prairie in 1853 and renamed it after himself.

In 1845, the Fox family, which owned about a dozen slaves, buried a slave child called Melinda on the family farm, which eventually became the town’s cemetery for black residents. Named Fox–Hembry Cemetery, the plot still exists today. After it had fallen into disrepair, local residents and businesses gathered to restore it in 2011. Though Abraham Lincoln was not on the ballot in the area for the 1860 Presidential election, residents of Lewisville (listed as ‘Hollforts’ on election results) still gave John C. Breckinridge only a 44–31 majority over an electoral fusion option.

During Reconstruction, Lewisville became home to Denton County’s first cotton gin. Built in 1867, it could produce up to three bales per day. The Thirteenth Texas Legislature chartered the Dallas and Wichita Railroad (later the Missouri–Kansas–Texas) on terms requiring 20 miles of track to be in running order by July 1, 1875. Lewisville paid the company $15,000 to come to the city, with a promise of another $5,000 on completion. The company fulfilled the deal by completing the railroad tracks to a point just south of Lewisville on the morning of the deadline, and the line began running full-time in 1881. Republicans in the Fourteenth Texas Legislature passed a law on April 30, 1874, prohibiting alcohol within two miles of the town. Many residents ignored the law, however, and the city retained as many as 17 saloons at one point. The population of the unincorporated town was 500 in 1888.
