Please, please, please, don’t pour oil or fats down your drain. They cause a sticky buildup and can clog or stop your drainage easily. We can certainly clear them out however you need never call us for this problem if you throw your oil and fats away in a garbage can. You can use an empty coffee can or an old jug with a lid of some kind to pour the old frying oil into and throw it away. It saves your drain and your pocketbook!!
A great rule of thumb in freezing weather, though I know we don’t have much in Allen, is to empty your hoses and cover the hose bibs (outside faucets) so that they don’t freeze and you won’t have to fix or replace them. While not all that expensive, the cost does add up!
An awesome little trick to see if the toilet is where you water bill is racking up dollars is to put a couple of drops of food coloring in the reservoir to see if it is leaking into the bowl when your toilet is not being flushed. A small leak and a constantly running toilet can cost you plenty in water costs!
When you are dealing with toilets, remember that they are made for specific waste. Particularly body waste and toilet paper. Flushable wipes, while claiming to be flushable are sometimes the culprit behind nasty backups and overflows!
