Bat Removal
Most bats have a breeding season, which is in the spring for species living in a temperate climate. The Texas Parks and Wildlife dictates when the bat removal have to stop being removed until late summer when the give the okay do the exclusions and removal. If it is spring you must call for our bat exterminator services as soon as you think you have a bat colony. At some point come May the Texas Parks and Wildlife officials will give the no exclusions until further notice. Bats are federally protected.
If you find out about the bats after this time frame you still need to call so we can seal up the exterior of the house to prevent the bats from spreading to other parts of the house. Come late summer we will then complete the exclusion.
Bats may have one to three litters in a season, depending on the species and on environmental conditions such as the availability of food and roost sites. Females generally have one offspring at a time, this is maybe a result of the mother’s need to fly to feed while pregnant.
Bats are nocturnal creatures. Their daylight hours are spent grooming, sleeping, and resting; it is during the nighttime hours that they hunt.
Bats are natural reservoir for a large number of zoonotic pathogens including rabies, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), Henipavirus and possibly ebola virus. Their high mobility, broad distribution, and social behavior (communal roosting, fission-fusion social structure) make bats favorable hosts and vectors of disease. Many species also appear to have a high tolerance for harboring pathogens and often do not develop disease while infected.
